How Exploro Made At-Home THC Testing Easy and Available for Everyone

No matter the legal status of THC in your state, THC testing is still a regular thing, especially when it comes to employment (and pre-employment for that matter). And with drug testing comes drug test anxiety. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Exploro, through research and scientific rigor, designed a range of THC tests that you can use at home, and uncover the real picture.

What Is At-Home THC Testing and Why It’s Important

As the name suggests, at-home THC testing is a way to detect THC metabolites in your system, all from the comfort of your home. It comes in the form of a testing kit that includes either a test strip or a dip card (depending on the sensitivity of the test).

Now, the test is done by sampling urine, which is most likely going to be the scenario with the official THC (and other) drug tests. If done at home, this method is the least invasive, in contrast to workplace testing.

The medical tech behind these tests is called immunoassay technology. In simple terms, it contains antibodies that hunt down and detect a specific antigen. In this case, that antigen is THC-COOH, which is a cannabis metabolite that remains in the body after THC use. This technology is used for screening tests, and it has a binary result (positive or negative) that happens at a sensitivity (aka cutoff) level.

Who Needs These Tests The Most

Even though drug testing is mostly related to employment and pre-employment situations, there’s more to it than one tends to think. Here’s a list of scenarios in which at-home drug testing is useful:

  • Keeping track of your detox journey
  • Monitoring the rehab process and preventing relapses
  • Supporting a family member who struggles with addiction
  • Tracking THC status before an important surgery procedure
  • Monitoring THC status while on probation or a court-ordered sobriety program
  • Using at-home THC tests to understand your habits better

The truth is, there are many factors that can affect the time window for metabolizing THC. Exploro even has a THC detox calculator that will take your basic info (age, weight, height, activity level), usage patterns, and lifestyle factors, and create a detox detection estimate profile just for you.

How To Use The Test Correctly

Now, even though using these tests is as simple as immersing the strip/dip-card into urine and waiting for the results, there are some nuances to it if you want to do it correctly. To get the most accurate results from your Exploro THC test, you should consider the following:

  1. Make sure that the packaging isn’t damaged. If it is, contact Exploro to quickly resolve the issue
  2. Read the instructions carefully, and read them twice. A lot of uncertainty comes from misread instructions
  3. Collect the sample in a clean and sterile container. Make sure your hands are clean while collecting it as well
  4. Perform the test by dipping the strip (or dip-card) into the urine, up to the marked line
  5. Wait for the results and read them. You should always see the control line (C) on the strip. After that, if nothing appears, the test is positive. If the test line (T) appears, the test is negative.

Exploro THC at-home test accuracy

The immunoassay tech is pretty impressive, and its accuracy is above 90%. Actually, that goes up to 99%, depending on four main factors:

  1. Correct sample correction (cleanliness is key here)
  2. Test expiration date
  3. Reading and following the timing instructions correctly
  4. Hydration levels – overhydration leads to sample dilution, which affects the results. Avoid it

The most popular test comes at a sensitivity level of 50 ng/ml, which is the cutoff at which official screening tests are done.

For heavier users, Exploro developed a 3-level THC at-home test that measures the presence of THC metabolites at 100, 50, and 20 ng/ml. This is ideal for tracking a detox journey after prolonged cannabis use.

At-home Testing Is About Clarity

Drug testing is not exactly a comfy ordeal. It can be invasive when it comes to privacy, and it can cause anxiety even in people who never used drugs.

That’s why Exploro developed these easy-to-use DIY at-home THC tests – to provide you with clarity and help you understand your body better.
